The World Bank’s Country Office in Uzbekistan is pleased to announce its
Small Grants Program

About the Program.  The Small Grants Program (SmGP) was created in 1983 to provide a way for the World Bank to promote dialogue and dissemination of information about international development in forums outside its own operations.

Who can apply? SmGP supports nonprofit, non-governmental, non-academic organizations.

What sorts of activities are supported?  Activities supported by the SmGP are intended to promote dialogue and dissemination of information; and enhance partnerships with key players in support of the economic and social development process. The SmGP-2007 will make special focus to proposals from NGOs involved in: facilitating in-country debate on economic policy and social policy issues; encouraging measures designed to improve public services, transparency and public accountability at local level in relation to MDGs / poverty reduction. Applications on those topics involving young people are of preference.

What size of grants is awarded?  Individual grants are expected to be in the range of 1000-7000 USD equivalent.  The SmGP proposed activity should be completed within one year of the date the grant is awarded.  Applicant organizations will be asked to describe how a World Bank SmGP grant might help them to raise funds from other donors.

How to apply.  SmGP guidelines and sample grant application are available upon request to the World Bank’s Country Office at International Business Center, 15th Floor, 107 B, Amir Timur Street, Tashkent 100084 or on the World Bank website www.worldbank.org.uz.  Applications should be sent by January 21, 2007 to the World Bank’s Country Office in Uzbekistan to the above address, faxed to (998 71) 138 59 51/52 or e-mailed to itsoy@worldbank.org.  They should be labeled "Small Grants Program", marked for the attention of Ms. Irina Tsoy

Applicants should check the receipt of the proposal by the Coordinator.
