On September 10, 2008, the World Bank Uzbekistan country office hosted a video conference to present Doing Business 2009 results for Central Asian countries. The video conference connected country offices of the World Bank in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and brought together representatives of mass media outlets of four Central Asian Counties.
The main findings of Doing Business 2009 were presented by Doing Business project specialists, Svetlana Bagaudinova and Umar Shavurov, who also provided detailed answers to questions raised by the media.
According to Doing Business 2009 Report, Uzbekistan improved its ranking having jumped from 145th place in last year's report to 138th place thanks to establishing a private credit bureau and a public credit registry to share credit information among financial institutions. These measures have significantly improved access of population to credit resources.
The report also notes that adoption of new Tax Code and decrease of tax burden resulted in decrease of income tax and single tax payment in 2007.
