| Tashkent Solid Waste Management Project

The objectives of the Tashkent Solid Waste Management Project are to: (a) return the existing Municipal Solid Waste Management System (MSWM) collection and disposal system to a satisfactory level of service; and (b) improve the technical, financial and institutional basis for its future operation and development. The investment components include: (a) the purchase of collection vehicles and support equipment; (b) the increase in number of collection bins and collection points; (c) landfill modernization; (d) vehicle park development; (e) landfill closure; (f) design, procurement, and construction of four transfer stations; (g) purchase of transfer station vehicles; (h) purchase of biomedical waste facilities; and (i) the purchase of operational computer equipment. The institutional support components include: (a) project management support; (b) a strategic plan; (c) corporatization assistance; (d) financial management system development and implementation; (e) tariff study; (f) collection optimization studies; (g) landfill operations training; (h) landfill closure design and training; (i) landfill expansion design assistance; and (j) public participation and education assistance.**
